Borussia Mönchengladbach struck first at Borussia-Park when Lars Stindl scored in the 13th minute against Bayern Munich. The goal put the hosts 1-0 up early in the first half, setting the tone for what would become a five-goal contest.
35' Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting (Bayern Munich) 1-1
Trailing since the 13th minute, Bayern Munich drew level in the 35th through Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting. His equalizer made it 1-1 and ensured the visitors went into the second half on even terms rather than chasing the game.
55' Jonas Hofmann (Borussia Mönchengladbach) 2-1
With the score locked at 1-1 after the break, Jonas Hofmann restored Borussia Mönchengladbach's advantage in the 55th minute. The hosts never relinquished the 2-1 lead from that point on, and Hofmann's strike went down as the winning goal in a 3-2 victory over Bayern Munich.
