28' Lucas Höler (SC Freiburg) 1-0

36' Ritsu Doan (SC Freiburg) 2-0
Eight minutes after the opener, Ritsu Doan doubled SC Freiburg's lead in the 36th minute to make it 2-0. The home side now held a two-goal cushion in the first half, though it would not survive until the break.

Trailing by two, TSG Hoffenheim pulled one back in first-half added time when Marius Bülter scored in the 45+2nd minute. The goal cut the deficit to 2-1 and gave the visitors a foothold before the interval.
45'+5 Andrej Kramarić (TSG Hoffenheim) 2-2
Just three minutes after Bülter's goal, Andrej Kramarić equalized in the 45+5th minute to level the score at 2-2. Two goals in first-half added time had wiped out TSG Hoffenheim's two-goal deficit, leaving SC Freiburg to go into the break without the lead they had built.
57' Lucas Höler (SC Freiburg) 3-2
With the score at 2-2, Lucas Höler struck again in the 57th minute to restore SC Freiburg's lead. It was his second goal of the match and proved to be the winner, as the home side held on for a 3-2 victory after seeing a two-goal advantage disappear before half-time. The scorer of the opener thus also had the final word.
