2' Jens Stage (SV Werder Bremen) 0-1
SV Werder Bremen took the lead just two minutes into their Matchday 32 visit, with Jens Stage opening the scoring. The early goal put the away side 0-1 up before the match had found its rhythm. It left 1. FC Union Berlin chasing the game on home soil almost from the outset.
15' Jens Stage (SV Werder Bremen) 0-2
Jens Stage struck again in the 15th minute, doubling SV Werder Bremen's advantage to 0-2. It was his second goal of the afternoon, both coming inside the opening quarter of an hour. With a two-goal cushion so early in the first half, the visitors appeared to have firm control.
37' Tom Rothe (1. FC Union Berlin) 1-2
Trailing by two, 1. FC Union Berlin pulled one back in the 37th minute through Tom Rothe. The goal cut the deficit to 1-2 before half-time and gave the home side a foothold in the match. Rather than a comfortable lead, Bremen took only a single-goal margin into the second half.
83' László Bénes (1. FC Union Berlin) 2-2
With 1. FC Union Berlin still a goal down late on, László Bénes found the equalizer in the 83rd minute to make it 2-2. It completed the hosts' recovery from the 0-2 hole they had dug in the opening 15 minutes. No further goals followed, and the match ended level.
