The match, goal by goal
1 of the 4 goals came after half-time.
2' Anthony Rouault (VfB Stuttgart) 1-0
VfB Stuttgart needed only two minutes to go ahead at home, with Anthony Rouault scoring to make it 1-0. The early opener set the course of the afternoon at MHPArena. SC Freiburg never found a reply, and Rouault's goal ended up as the winner in a 4-0 victory.
17' Ermedin Demirović (VfB Stuttgart) 2-0
In the 17th minute, Ermedin Demirović doubled VfB Stuttgart's advantage to 2-0. The goal came fifteen minutes after the early opener and gave the hosts a two-goal cushion. SC Freiburg, still looking for a way back into the match, now faced a wider deficit.
45'+5 Nick Woltemade (VfB Stuttgart) 3-0
Deep into first-half stoppage time, in the 45+5 minute, Nick Woltemade made it 3-0. Instead of heading into the break 2-0 up, VfB Stuttgart took a three-goal lead into half-time. For SC Freiburg, the timing of the goal left a steep task for the second half.
80' Deniz Undav (VfB Stuttgart) 4-0
The only goal of the second half came in the 80th minute, when Deniz Undav made it 4-0. It meant four different VfB Stuttgart players had found the net. Undav's goal was the last of the match, as the hosts closed out a 4-0 win without conceding.
