The match, goal by goal
3 of the 5 goals came after half-time. Atalanta came from 1 down to win.
18' Emanuel Gyasi (Spezia) 0-1
Spezia, the visitors, struck first in the 18th minute. Emanuel Gyasi's goal made it 0-1 and left Atalanta chasing the game on home soil in the first half. Atalanta went on to win 3-2, so this opener ultimately became the starting point of a comeback.
32' Marten de Roon (Atalanta) 1-1
Trailing 0-1, Atalanta drew level in the 32nd minute through Marten de Roon. His goal made it 1-1 and reset the contest before half-time. For the home side, it was the first step toward the second-half turnaround that followed.
48' Davide Zappacosta (Atalanta) 2-1
Early in the second half, in the 48th minute, Davide Zappacosta put Atalanta 2-1 ahead. Having conceded first, the home side now held the lead for the first time in the match. Atalanta never relinquished that advantage on the way to a 3-2 win, making this the winning goal.
54' Luis Muriel (Atalanta) 3-1
Just six minutes after taking the lead, Atalanta added a third in the 54th minute through Luis Muriel, making it 3-1. Goals in the 48th and 54th minutes gave the hosts a two-goal cushion early in the second half. That margin proved significant, as it allowed Atalanta to withstand Spezia's later response.
64' Mehdi Bourabia (Spezia) 3-2
Two goals down, Spezia pulled one back in the 64th minute through Mehdi Bourabia. His goal made it 3-2 and gave the visitors a route back into the match. There was no further scoring, however, and Spezia, who had led early on, were left with a come-from-ahead defeat.
