Empoli's home meeting with Torino on Matchday 20 of Serie A was broken open in the 37th minute by Sebastiano Luperto. His goal ended the 0-0 deadlock and put Empoli 1-0 up in the first half. It was the opening goal of an afternoon that would later swing in both directions.
69' Răzvan Marin (Empoli) 2-0
With the score still 1-0 in the second half, Răzvan Marin doubled Empoli's lead in the 69th minute. The goal gave the home side a 2-0 cushion on top of Luperto's first-half opener. That two-goal margin, however, would not survive to the final whistle.
