The match, goal by goal
3 of the 4 goals came after half-time. 1 goal in second-half stoppage time.
2' Felipe Anderson (Lazio) 1-0
Lazio needed just two minutes to strike first at home in Matchday 17, as Felipe Anderson put them 1-0 up against Empoli. The early lead held through the first half and set the tone for the evening at the Stadio Olimpico. It would, however, prove to be the opening act of a match that finished 2-2.
54' Mattia Zaccagni (Lazio) 2-0
With Lazio still 1-0 ahead after the break, Mattia Zaccagni doubled the advantage in the 54th minute. The goal stretched the hosts' lead to 2-0 and appeared to give them a firm hold on the match. That two-goal cushion, though, would not survive the closing stages.
83' Francesco Caputo (Empoli) 2-1
Trailing by two, Empoli finally found a response in the 83rd minute through Francesco Caputo, cutting the deficit to 2-1. It was the visitors' first goal of the afternoon and reopened a match that had seemed settled. Less than ten minutes later, the scoreline would change again.
90'+3 Răzvan Marin (Empoli) 2-2
In the third minute of stoppage time, Răzvan Marin struck to make it 2-2 and complete Empoli's late recovery. Coming after Caputo's goal in the 83rd minute, it meant the visitors had erased a two-goal deficit in roughly ten minutes. Lazio, who had led 2-0, were held to a draw at the Stadio Olimpico.
