The match, goal by goal
4 of the 6 goals came after half-time.
22' Rafael Leão (AC Milan) 1-0
Rafael Leão opened the scoring in the 22nd minute as AC Milan hosted Salernitana at San Siro on Matchday 38 of Serie A on 25 May 2024. The goal put the home side 1-0 up. It was the first of six goals in a match that finished 3-3.
27' Olivier Giroud (AC Milan) 2-0
Just five minutes after Leão's opener, Olivier Giroud doubled AC Milan's lead in the 27th minute to make it 2-0. The home side went into half-time with a two-goal cushion. It was an advantage they would ultimately fail to hold.
64' Simy (Salernitana) 2-1
Trailing 2-0, Salernitana pulled one back in the 64th minute through Simy. The second-half goal cut the deficit to 2-1 and gave the visitors a way back into the match. It would not be Simy's last goal of the game.
77' Davide Calabria (AC Milan) 3-1
Thirteen minutes after Salernitana had made it 2-1, Davide Calabria restored AC Milan's two-goal advantage in the 77th minute. At 3-1, the margin was back to two, but the closing stages would bring two more goals.
87' Junior Sambia (Salernitana) 3-2
In the 87th minute, Junior Sambia made it 3-2, bringing Salernitana back within a goal. It was the second time in the match that the visitors had cut a two-goal deficit in half. Two minutes later, they would draw level.
89' Simy (Salernitana) 3-3
Simy struck again in the 89th minute, his second goal of the match, to bring Salernitana level at 3-3. The equaliser came only two minutes after Sambia's goal, with the visitors wiping out a two-goal deficit in that short span.
