Only five minutes after the opener, Nikola Krstović doubled Lecce's lead in the 11th minute to make it 0-2. The quick succession of goals left Empoli chasing a two-goal deficit early on home soil. Given the 1-3 final score, Krstović's strike ultimately proved to be the winner.
47' Liberato Cacace (Empoli) 1-2
Trailing 0-2 at the break, Empoli pulled one back two minutes into the second half through Liberato Cacace. His 47th-minute goal made it 1-2 and gave the home side a foothold for a fightback. It turned a match that had slipped away in the first half into a one-goal contest again.
90'+1 Nikola Krstović (Lecce) 1-3
With the score still 1-2 in stoppage time, Nikola Krstović struck again in the 90+1st minute for his second goal of the match, making it 1-3.
