Genoa drew first blood on Matchday 3 of Serie A at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris, with Milutin Osmajić putting the hosts 1-0 up against Como in the 19th minute. The opener seemed to hand the home side control of the first half. It would prove to be their only goal of the night, as Como went on to score four times and win 1-4.

Just six minutes after falling behind, Como were level. Martin Baturina scored in the 25th minute to make it 1-1, wiping out Genoa's lead before it could settle. The equaliser set off a spell in which the visitors scored three times before half-time.

Five minutes after the equaliser, Assane Diao turned the match around, scoring in the 30th minute to put Como 1-2 ahead. In the space of 11 minutes the visitors had gone from a goal down to leading. Como never relinquished that advantage, making Diao's strike the winning goal.

The only goal of the second half came in the 78th minute, and it was Assane Diao's second of the match. Having already scored the go-ahead goal in the 30th minute, Diao made it 1-4. Como, who had conceded first, scored four unanswered goals to complete a comeback win away from home.
