Only two minutes had been played when Musashi Suzuki broke the deadlock for Hokkaido Consadole Sapporo, making it 0-1. The visitors had the lead almost from kick-off, leaving Urawa Red Diamonds chasing the game at Saitama Stadium 2002 far earlier than they would have wanted. Sapporo never surrendered that advantage, and the strike stood as the winning goal.
