Fourteen minutes after the opener, Borja Mayoral doubled Getafe CF's advantage in the 86th minute to make it 2-0. The late second goal proved more valuable than it may have looked at the time. With Girona FC pulling one back in stoppage time, Mayoral's strike gave the home side the cushion it needed to see out the win.
