Only four minutes after the opener, Jonas Hofmann doubled Bayer Leverkusen's advantage in the 8th minute to make it 2-0. Two goals inside the first eight minutes appeared to put the hosts firmly in control. Holstein Kiel, however, would recover from that deficit, and the match ended 2-2.
