Sassuolo hosted Spezia at the Mapei Stadium – Città del Tricolore in Round 27 of Serie A, and the match was still goalless deep into the second half. The deadlock was finally broken in the 71st minute by Domenico Berardi, putting Sassuolo 1-0 up. The home side held on to that lead until the end, and Berardi's goal, the only one of the match, proved to be the winner.
