With AC Milan protecting a one-goal advantage in the closing stages, Zachary Athekame doubled the lead in the 81st minute to make it 0-2. The second goal gave the away side some breathing room. Because Genoa pulled one back shortly afterward, Athekame's strike proved to be the one that settled the result.
