Cagliari broke the deadlock in the 38th minute of their Serie A matchday 8 meeting with Torino on 20 October 2024. Nicolas Viola's goal put the home side 1-0 up at the Unipol Domus. It was the first of five goals in a match that would finish 3-2.

Torino needed only three minutes to respond. Antonio Sanabria equalised in the 41st minute, levelling the score at 1-1 shortly after Cagliari had taken the lead. The away side went into half-time on level terms as a result.
55' Karol Linetty (Torino) 1-2
Ten minutes into the second half, Torino completed the turnaround. Karol Linetty scored in the 55th minute to make it 1-2, putting the visitors ahead after they had fallen behind in the first half. At that stage, the momentum belonged to Torino.
74' José Luis Palomino (Cagliari) 2-2
Trailing since the 55th minute, Cagliari drew level in the 74th. José Luis Palomino's goal made it 2-2 and wiped out the lead Torino had taken early in the second half. The home side now had more than a quarter of an hour to look for a winner.
78' Own goal (Cagliari) 3-2
Just four minutes after the equaliser, an own goal in the 78th minute put Cagliari 3-2 ahead. It proved to be the final goal of the match and the winner. Cagliari, who had trailed 1-2, completed a comeback victory at home, while Torino were left to rue a lead that slipped away.
